Welcome to the website of the Affect, Motivation & Action (AMA) lab.
Our research aims to gain insight into the dynamic interplay between emotional states and goal-oriented behavior.
In order to achieve this, we utilize a range of methods including neuroimaging (EEG, functional and structural MRI), physiological measures (pupil dilation and cardiovascular measures), and facial EMG. Additionally, we have recently expanded our investigations to include the study of neurochemical (endorphin-mediated) and neuroendocrine mechanisms that contribute to the interactions between affect, stress, and cognitive control.
For a comprehensive overview of our current research themes, please visit our research page.
The Affect, Motivation & Action lab is based at the Institute of Psychology (Cognitive Psychology Unit), Leiden University. Our lab is part of the Leiden Institute for Brain and Cognition.
